Balenciaga Spring 2012: Center Stage

We heard he “brought the house down”. Everyone at The Blonde and The Brunette agree that Balenciagia and Nicolas Ghesquière just took center stage again. Although many a fashionista has loved, worn and lauded recent collections, the broader appeal might have weakened slightly at retail. Yesterday, once again, Ghesquière dominated the catwalk. Using stellar brights, color blocking, prints, references into the archives of Cristobal, a twist on the white tee and dramatic accents, the collection was almost reminiscent of the celebrated fall/winter 2008 show;  sleeker and more evolved through dramatic construction, softer shapes, and a magnificent radiance to the fabrications. Spring has a new urban wardrobe.
