The Modern Day Andrea Warhol

We’re cleansing our fashion and event palette for just one day in the middle of all the fashion week frenzy. Honest Abe for GUCCI? Jesus in a “What would Blue Ivy do” tee? Two of the many reasons I absolutely die for Ashley Longshore’s work. The New Orleans based pop artist has been dubbed the modern day Andy Warhol, or rather, the modern day Andrea Warhol. Inspired by American consumerism, she is known for adorning iconic and historical figures in designer duds, along side her own quirky twist. I mean, Honest Abe and Mark Twain in Gucci? It doesn’t get any better than that.

The biggest surprise, despite her work being highly provocative, it often sells upwards of $30,000 or more to some of the most prestigious, moneyed people in the world. Her fearless use of subjects, color, and texture is captivating. A contagious happiness that radiates through everyone who see’s her work. “I want to live in a world of laughter, color, sparkle and shine” Ashley said. “Life is too short to not spend most of the day with a smile.” The Blonde and The Brunette couldn’t agree more.
