Faux Real
The Blonde and The Brunette thought we would continue to weigh in on this trend. This season fur is back with a vengeance! We see it with Prada, Louis Vuitton, Chanel and many other designers that added movement to the runway. You see it in handbags, gloves, scarves, wraps, boots, coats and jackets from statement pieces which can cause lots of attention or be minimal by adding just the right blend of color and softness to your wardrobe. These pieces are even becoming functional for extreme weather in New York and Chicago and completely suitable for high fashion LA!
In the past, some people have been ferociously opposed to fur. This time around, the introduction of faux fur with designers across the board paves the way for new acceptance among fashionistas that have normally said no to furry friends. Prada said it best when they introduced faux fur into their line in 2007. The key to getting faux fur pieces right is to make them playful and fun-its not meant to mimic real fur. It is to make a statement of it’s own.
This season is a sensorial wonderland for discovering the benefits of both. Everywhere you go, stores have a wide variety vests, muffs and clutch handbags that are affordable for a girls first purchase or an adorable gift. Don’t forget to search your own inventory for family heirlooms such as grandma’s fur stole or mom’s full-length fur.
We are so lucky to be able to have so many options today! Whether you decide to go real or faux, fun or glamorous is up to you. Just make sure your furry find is fabulous!
