Beautiful Byzantine

The pendulum swung at Chanel and the dramatic results were showcased at Chanel’s Métier d’Arts show in Paris last week. Inspired by the Empress Theodore and the lost culture of Byzantine, this is fashion as a vision of wearable art. From the exquisite little bejeweled buttons, feathers, fringe, bronze sequins and chunky shoes, with a special nod to the little black dress. Of particular note is the dramatic hair styled with bejeweled headbands, loose top chignons piled high and tousled, side-swiped bangs.  Pre-Fall 2011 can’t get here soon enough. The Blonde and The Brunette think the ripple effect will be felt all season long.
