Christian Dior Spring 2012: The Pretty Is Back
After the debacle of the Spring Dior Couture collection, the new, post-Galliano team played it safe and that was the smart move. What I loved most about the Christian Dior Spring 2012 collection is that I am seeing some transitional pieces that can be carried over from Fall along with the return to the Dior tradition of the classic Bar jacket, ladylike chic and glamorous evening gowns. Best of all are some of the key pieces, the black leather skirt (a BnB Fall must-have, you’ll recall) and the structured handbag (a trend we first reported after the Neiman Marcus Fall Trend Presentation) emerged stronger than ever. In addition, I love the contrast the Gaytten team created by using graphic black and white with sheer, airy materials and pale colors (particularly baby blue) and, of course, strappy sandals that are so signature of Springtime. There were also some pops of red thrown in for good measure. Finally, we are again seeing 60’s silhouettes, which has been a recurring theme across the Spring 2012 shows.
