Zac Posen Resort 2012: Crushed Couture
Astrid: Besides the fabulous flaring pencil skirts, there were plenty of choices for THE perfect Red Carpet gown. I couldn’t get enough of this glamorous very body-conscious, “American Royalty” resort 2012 collection. Every dress in Zac Posen’s Resort 2010 collection is unique and fabulous. The colors, fabrics, and cuts are one-of-a-kind…there was even a gorgeous wedding dress. In fact, we found traces from his custom bridal business all over this resort collection. This summer he’ll design a dress for Josephine de la Baume, who is marrying Mark Ronson. My favorite dress was the 720-yard, hand-dyed vermillion confection with a swirling, mermaid train. I am sure we will see lots of these designs on the Red Carpet.
NJ: I have gown envy and bbm’d Astrid about it. At the Met Costume Institute Gala, Christina Ricci wore a black lace, much photographed version of the mermaid gown (above) from this collection. I was besotted with it. We actually entered the long gallery leading to cocktails together, along with Zac Posen, and I couldn’t resist complimenting them both on this spectacular gown. Zac, for the design and Christina (possibly a size 0) beautifully showcasing his work. I think it was truly under appreciated. Best of all, Zac and Christina couldn’t have been nicer as we quickly discussed the merits of his work. I’ll be crushed if I can’t find one of these gowns. But, where will I wear it?
