Spring Essentials With Madewell x Daryl K

Coachella has come to a close but we’re still inspired. It’s been a few years since we’ve heard the name Daryl K, short for Kerrigan, and for many of you, this might in fact be the first time. I can assure though, that it definitely won’t be the last! Madewell x Daryl K released an 18 piece capsule collection earlier this year focused on everything we love about denim in the spring, and we finally got our hands on it! The 70s inspired collection features high-waisted flared jeans, denim jackets, suede skirts and ankle cut leather boots. All of our favorite wardrobe essentials, with a rock ‘n’ roll edge!

The 70’s 80’s & 90’s have all been having a major comeback as of late, and it seems that retailers have recently been embracing these throwback trends in a more authentic way. This is apparent in the Nasty Gal x Courtney Love collaboration we wrote about last month, and the same goes for the Madewell x Daryl K collection which recently debuted.

Kerrigan reports that she and Jenna Lyons (president and creative director of J.Crew) whom also owns Madewell, had been tossing around the idea of a collaboration for a while before this one came together. The timing couldn’t be better, as the 90’s have come full circle. Madewell’s Head of Design, Joyce Lee explains why the Daryl K collaboration was a no brainer when she said, “We like brands that have staying power and brands that are really about creating a wardrobe that isn’t just going to fade away the next season.”
