J. Mendel For Aviva
Yesterday at the London Hotel, Saks Fifth Avenue Beverly Hills once again generously supported the Annual Platinum Associates’ Luncheon to support Aviva Family and Children’s Services.
The world-renowned designer, Gilles Mendel, flew in for the show along with some of the top models from his Spring 2011 Runway show. Brooke Shields was there to support Aviva as she walks the walk “that charity begins at home”. Thank you, Brooke!
The stunning J. Mendel fashion show unfolded with the DJ rocking, his way, one of my favorite songs ever, Bittersweet Symphony, as the show’s theme. It was a marvelous choice for the heavenly parade of yummy looks. The line featured everything from sheer, minimalist, draped, metallic, and spectacular red carpet choices to a bridal statement along with brights in the most beautiful shades of burnt oranges. Lots of applause, especially for the looks above and the ballerina who kicked off the show (on point).
I can’t forget this quick side note about grace under pressure. The beautiful blondes, Susan Casden and Robin Broidy, hosted the event. Originally scheduled for the rooftop, it was raining in LA! It never rains in October. Still, Susan and her team quickly mobilized moving the event from the stunning rooftop venue to the packed to capacity ballroom. Great job!
Best of all, I was lucky enough to be seated with the oh-so charming Gilles, J. Mendel’s sensational President and CEO, Susan Sokol, Tom Vartin of Saks and the famed stylist, Jane Ross along with Susan Casden and Brooke Shields.
