NYFW Spring 2014: Day 1 & 2 Standouts
I’m going to be honest. So far the big hit on the New York runways is Jason Wu’s fluid and effortless silhouettes for spring 2014. With a few other exceptions, we’re slightly underwhelmed with what’s been happening as New York Fashion Week gets underway.
We’ve been briefed on trends to expect: floral, but we beg to differ. The direction (two days in) seems to be that we’re heading for whites, whites and more whites; dark & edgy minimalism; nautical and preppy, reds and hot pinks (as the continuation of the new neutral theme) and oceanic pastels as if from a Bora Bora lagoon.
We’re just getting started. So hang tight for lots of smack talk and B & B opinions that may or may not be relevant. In the meantime, enjoy a bit of Kate Spade, Jenni Kayne, Tanya Taylor and Gary Graham. They all seem fresh and exceedingly right for the modern girl.
