It’s the time of year when our thoughts turn to others and the organizations we love to support all year long. We have some sentimental favorites we hope you might just support too or find your own. ‘Tis the season.
Kids are foremost in our minds. Project Night Night donates over 25,000 Night Night Packages each year, free of charge, to homeless children who need our childhood essentials to feel secure, cozy, ready to learn, and significant. Each Night Night Package contains a new security blanket, an age-appropriate children’s book, and a stuffed animal — all nestled inside of a new canvas tote bag. By providing objects of reliable comfort, Project Night Night reduces trauma and advances the emotional and cognitive well-being of the children we serve.
With so much suffering in the world, Direct Relief provides real hope. Their mission is to help the lives of people affected by poverty or emergency situations by mobilizing and providing essential medical resources need for their care.
Health has intrinsic value for every person, but it is also essential for people to learn, work, and make a living. Sick people who don’t receive care can’t work, and they get poor or stay poor; and people who are poor are at higher risk of getting sick. Breaking this vicious cycle is an enormously complex endeavor requiring change in many areas other than health services. But under any scenario, better access to health services is essential. This how Direct Relief steps in to create positive change and hope.
Direct Relief’s medical assistance programs equip health professionals working in resource-poor communities to better meet the challenges of diagnosing, treating, and caring for people without regard to politics, religion, gender, race, or ability to pay.
Make-A-Wish® grants the wish of a child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition in the United States and its territories, on average, every 38 minutes. The Make-A-Wish organization believes that a wish experience can be a game-changer. This one belief guides and inspires to grant wishes that change the lives of the kids we serve.
A Hollywood favorite, celebs from Jessica Alba and Nicole Ritchie work tirelessly to support Baby2Baby’s work providing low-income children ages 0-12 with diapers, clothing and all the basic necessities that every child deserves. By distributing new and gently used items to 60 non-profit partner organizations including homeless and domestic violence shelters, Head Start programs and children’s hospitals, Baby2Baby will serve over 80,000 children this year.
The B7 B has been a long time supporter of the critically important work of The Los Angeles Mission which exists to provide help, hope and opportunity to men, women and children in need. The Los Angeles Mission provides important community programs as a powerful tool to bring about change in lives devastated by substance abuse and poor lifestyle choices.
The Humane Society of the United States
The Humane Society of the United States is the nation’s largest and most effective animal protection organization. The Society and its affiliates provide hands-on care and services to more than 100,000 animals each year, and professionalize the field through education and training for local organizations. They are the leading animal advocacy organization, driving transformational change in the U.S. and around the world by combating large-scale cruelties such as puppy mills, animal fighting, factory farming, seal slaughter, horse cruelty, captive hunts and the wildlife trade. This year they have lead the charge on passing important legislature creating more humane condition including protecting wolves, lab monkeys, and factory farming. As the year closes, a donor has created a $1MM matching fund for every dollar given. We can’t think of a better cause.
