Prada Spring 2012 Is Smelling Sweet
The Blonde and the Brunette have said this over and over again. Besides Karl Lagerfeld and Marc Jacobs, no one wields as much fashion power as Miuccia Prada. In Milan this week, she declared with her Spring 2012 show that “sweet” is back but with a vengeance. Only, this time, Mrs. Prada has tapped into a Hollywood iconic moment with an interpretation on The Seven Year Itch and Marilyn Monroe. The models literally walked across a catwalk comprised of subway grates blowing air; and since we are based in Beverly Hills and often frequent the Beverly Hills Hotel, Polo Lounge and the pool, we recognize a collection that is inspired by our own backyard. Has Miuccia stayed there lately or has she just been pouring through old photos or the Mad Men episodes from a few years ago? She tapped into the vibe by showcasing everything from ladylike, sheers, prints, retro, outerwear, embellishments, swimwear and that bare midriff theme for the cocktail hour. So ladies beware, she has concocted a mix of what Italian men and men everywhere love: sexy, ladylike women in convertible cars, hotels and poolside. Here’s to hot summer days and nights.
