Decades:A Century Of Fashion & Giveaway
The holidays wouldn’t be the holidays without the perfect coffee table book. Wait…the perfect coffee-table book that showcases fashion over the last 100 years. Decades: A Century in Fashion is it. Penned by Cameron Silver, it is a treasure filled with a century of colorful fashion history that not only inspires but opens up the world of vintage fashion. Recognized as an industry expert and influencer, as well as being the founder of the world-renowned landmark boutique Decades, Cameron has created a stunningly beautiful, truly original and entirely definitive history of fashion over the last century.
We spoke to Cameron about his approach and unlike most fashion histories he choose to write in first person bringing his individual take on every trend, style and seasonal fad. “I wanted to write a book about vintage that was modern and I wanted the images to look modern,” said Silver, “Sexy was a buzzword.” Then we glimpsed at the exquisite photos and met the wonderful Heather Vicars (at the Decades LA dinner). She explained how she and Cameron had spent years painstakingly researching the images every Sunday evening at her kitchen table. Together they unearthed many rare and virtually unseen photos like Betty Paige and a troupe of leopards and Greta Garbo in a dramatic yet contemporary look. This is the perfect collectible for style inspiration, a gift or for those who really want to know and just for you (me-gift) to understand fashion history.

says:My favorite decade is the roaring twenties. It’s all about freedom and liberation for woman. A time to break free, rebel, experiment and claim rights, like the right to vote. That attitude reflects in the fashion from that decade. I especially love the hats and the hatpieces (I have a few real vintages ones that my grandmother used to wear when she was young in those times).
