Tonight there is a very exciting event at MOCA’s Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood. Christie’s is hosting a reception and private viewing of The Collection of Elizabeth Taylor. It’s a glimpse into the legendary life of  unparalleled glamour and beauty of the last great movie star.

I’ve been invited and can’t wait to see all of the magnificent jewels that are up for auction during a series of sales in New York (December 13-16) and London (February).  The star of the show is the famed 33.19 carat asscher-cut diamond Richard Burton gave to Elizabeth Taylor which is expected to fetch between $2.5 to $3.5 million. Other major pieces of Elizabeth’s fabulous bling on display include the Taj Mahal Diamond, presented to Taylor by Burton on the occasion of her 40th birthday, and the Prince of Wales brooch which formerly belonged to The Duchess of Windsor.

If you are not bidding, for a mere $20 admission, you can see for yourself  an authentic life lived large and in the public eye.  The traveling exhibit starts October 13-16 at The Museum of Contemporary Art’s Pacific Design Center satellite as part of  an international tour that moves on to Moscow, London, Dubai, Geneva and Hong Kong . A portion of the proceeds generated by the exhibition and related publications will be donated to the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS foundation.  For more information, tour information and to buy tickets, click this link to the Christie’s site.
