Haider Ackermann

It’s that time of the year; January and Red Carpet season is upon us. The Palm Springs Film Festival, the Golden Globes, the Academy Awards, and all the parties and events.

The pressure is on to make a bold statement and find the perfect red carpet gown. The designer to watch? Colombian-born, Belgian-trained designer Haider Ackermann. His Spring 2011 show caught my eye when I saw the perfect evening dress. Ackermann has turned silk pajamas into languid evening-wear. It’s original and you will be noticed for sure.

The electric blue silk gown is one of a kind and has so much going on that no accessories are needed. The bare back is very elegant and sexy. Ackermann says it best, “A woman’s manly side is what’s sexy. A woman standing strongly, fighting to be desired.”

And if you want to take it up a notch, the salmon pink cat-suit with the beautiful skirt on the back is a real statement. From the back it looks rich and feminine and from the front it is very masculine but still elegant enough for the red carpet.

I’m a big fan and looking forward to his next collection as the buzz is really building around his collections.
