It was a dazzling 4 (!) hour Black Carpet for the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 premiere in LA on Monday night. The talk of the evening was either a brilliant fashion and marketing move or a style ‘faux pas’. Reminiscent of a JLo moment, Kristen Stewart attended the premiere wearing a sheer, lacy, floor-length gown by Zuhair Murad. Utterly revealing, the lace panels intentionally exposed full-on views of her undies (front and back). Very few can pull this off especially in this shimmering shade. KStew accessorized the look with a satin belt and sultry eyes, lips and hair in the perfect shades of metallic, red and auburn. By the way, she quickly changed into her dressed-down denim and leather jacket look for the after-party.
Not to be outdone, the Twilight men Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Jackson Rathbone and Kellan Lutz said no to black. Other trends included Nikki Reed as one of the ladies choosing bustiers, Ashley Green dazzling in one of the great sheer accent gowns, and lots of leg along with two dramatic backless looks as standouts.
Elisabeth Reaser and Dakota Fanning beautifully represented pastels and colors. The younger generation, Saoirise Ronan, Elle Fanning (in the challenging Spring 2013 Prada or was it Miu Miu (?) runway look including the ‘japanese’ sandals) and newcomer Mackenzie Foy all (or their stylists choosing for them to be) in white.
Other knockout ladies that we loved included Ashley Tisdale, Julianne Hough, Marissa Quinn, Julia Jones, Bella Thorne, Christina Perri, Olivia Holt and Teresa Palmer.
So….was Kristen’s dress a sheer delight or a fashion misstep?
