Our New York 2012 Fall Fashion Week Final Takeaways

London Fashion Week is well underway but The Blonde and the Brunette thought we would dash off our last set of Cliff Notes from New York Fashion Week 2012 before inundating you with trends from London, Paris and Milan.

PRINTED PANTS: It’s a party on your pants! Tibi (love the fit of these trousers) sent a number of patterned trousers down the runway, but they work just as well off the catwalk – wear them with a turtleneck and a statement necklace for a fiercely modern look.

JEWEL EMBELLISHMENTS: Oscar De La Renta & Naaem Khan made quite a statement including the fishnet stockings, velvet bow tie shoes, and satin-and-diamante headband sand beautifully embellished cocktail dresses.  These trends have already started hitting the Red Carpet in London this week , including long gloves with sequined gowns.

SEQUINS: They are not going anywhere! Yeah! Erin Fetherston and Monique Lhuillier loved sparkling the runway. We especially love pairing a short sequin dress with a leather jacket and tights.

FUR ACCENTS: No longer just for vests and coats, fur hats and scarves will be just as important and lots of great faux.

COLLAR NECKLACES: Yigal Azrouël loves the collar. Do preppy or edgy- whatever suites your fancy!  And they can be dressed up or down!

GOLD ACCENTS: Tracy Reese scored high on our list! But look for this as a big trend especially gold belts and details.

COLORS AND FAUX FUR ACCENTS:Rachel Zoe zeroed in on mustard, which is one of the hot new colors, and great faux fur accents.  J. Mendel translated the same trend into a stunning sequined gown while Rebecca Minkoff delivered a great red in her signature style.

Next stop? London, of course.
