RESORT 2014 Highlights: Day To Night Glam

Resort  shows are in full swing but have you ever wondered what is “Resort” or as it is also called “Cruise” ? Wonder no more. It’s not  just more weeks to the fashion calendar but the collections that lands in stores around November to fill in the between autumn/winter (which arrives in September) retail “gap”.  Hope that’s not too confusing.  I’ll explain Pre-Fall another time.

What’s really important is “Resort” is often worth buying more than Fall/Winter. It’s more commercial. Translation. More wearable!

Now there’s lots of collections and we’re as opinionated as ever; so we’ve started to cull through all the shows and pick some of our favorites. Dior created yet another hullabaloo by showing  their collection in Monaco (and they seem to be the new girl-wonder) but for my money I love the new  biker, work wear cool of Diesel Black Gold. Only the second collection from Andreas Melbostad, (the former designer,of defunct and personally beloved PHI brand), I think this is a break out moment.  There’s lots of excitement on the horizon for this label.

Of course, since anything that sparkles always gets my attention, DKNY’s take on day glam has my vote. Yes, sequins for day. All is right in the world!
