While it’s debatable that the term “supermodel” is being used much too loosely these days, one thing goes without argument…the red carpet has been taken over by these smoldering hot babes and the “bad girls club” of fashion designers. Leading the charge with his daring & rebellious yet often reminiscent of Old-Hollywood Glam designs is Parisian designer Alexandre Vauthier. Exhibit A: when Bella Hadid broke the internet at the Cannes Film Festival donning a custom crimson-red satin gown with a dangerously low plunging neckline and a hip-high slit, a jaw-dropping collaboration between the model and designer.
The red hot lineup continued. Channeling the 70’s with clear heels and a slicked back ponytail, Gigi Hadid stunned in a high-neck, long-sleeved sequin mini-dress by the designer at the iHeartRadio MMVA’s along with her bestie, Hailey Baldwin who opted for some edge and was rockin’ my favorite combination: over-the knee boots and an LBD by Vauthier.
Getting the hint? Drumroll or photo flashes…Satin, Suede, and Sequins…the three key elements for ultimate red carpet (and street-style) domination, and Vauthier nails each one effortlessly. Over-the-knee boots & over-sized jackets with high-neck mini-dresses and asymmetrical hemlines, Vauthier’s SS16 and AW16 collections are all of that and more, complete with some patent leather, sheer mesh, and metallics in his signature blacks, golds, and crimson reds.
