Interior Design Trend : Vintage Day Beds

ArmyCot-header

Living in Santa Monica means I have a house guest nearly every weekend! We are currently working on turning the second bedroom into an office, but we’ve had a very hard time deciding between getting a futon or investing in a good air mattress for when guests come to stay! After weeks of not being able to agree on either, Pinterest once again came to the rescue.

A vintage army cot. It turned out to be the simple answer to solving everything! Their simple frame makes them easy to store, and/or if you’d rather keep them out for decoration, their neutral color blends nicely with whatever decor you already have. Not only are they extremely comfortable, but when they’re not in use, they can double as a coffee table, a cozy day bed, or even a charming piece of art!

The vintage army cot is perfect for people like us who love hosting friends, but need to use our second bedroom as an office. It might not look like the most welcoming guest bed, but trust me when I say, they truly are extremely cozy! I mean…what else would you expect at a homey little house by the sea?

My personal use of the cot would probably go something like this…

1. Add an assortment of cute pillows and a comfy blanket.

2. Curl up with a good book and a cup of tea.

3. Have a cozy afternoon, daydream, and doze off to some sweet dreams!
