Sail Against The Wind: Laveer Jackets

OK. We just discovered this line. LAVEER, which is an old nautical term meaning to sail against the wind, is the perfect name for the perfect jacket collection. Designed to be a modern interpretation on a classic silhouette, and created by Kate Ciepluch, a talented alum of ShopBop, she has definitely accomplished her goal of creating her idea (and we agree) of the perfect blazer.

“It’s a reliable piece in a woman’s closet,” says Ciepluch, 30, of her reasoning behind pulling together a collection dedicated solely to this great wardrobe staple in different lengths and fits. Describing her jackets as “urban bohème,”  they are cut from herringbone tweeds, tartan plaids, or ombré wools, edged in bright piping or inset with leather and given vintage-feel buttons for an idiosyncratic twist. “Like the perfect accessory, they can pull together any outfit. ”

Available online at ShopBop and also at retail and online at Barneys starting at $298 to $495. She plans to expand beyond blazers within the next few seasons. But for now, says Ciepluch: “A blazer is the finale that communicates your personal style to the world.”
